Honoring International Women’s Day: A Meditation on Feminine Power & Strength
Share
What does it mean to tap into and revel in our feminine energy? On International Women’s Day, we pose this question and others, inviting you to explore answers in a guided meditation practice with iRest Senior Director of Teachings Stephanie Lopez. This practice for all genders considers:
- Strength that comes from setting boundaries, offering clarity in words and actions.
- Power that arises from tenderness and connection.
- Power that comes from compassion, love, and self-care.
For more than a century, International Women's Day has been celebrated annually on March 8. This global event not only highlights the social, cultural and political achievements of women; it also marks a call to action for accelerating gender equity.
The very first celebration of International Women’s Day included one million people from Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. Gaining momentum over the decades, its significance was officially declared in 1975 by the United Nations. Later, in 2011 Women's History Month was founded by U.S. President Barack Obama. Without question, March is a time to honor women around the globe—from Afghanistan to Armenia, from Vietnam to Zambia.
No matter where you are in the world—or in your life—we at iRest Institute invite you to participate in International Women’s Day. In keeping with the wisdom to “think globally, act locally” consider beginning your celebration by looking within. Explore your feminine energy, guided by Stephanie, reflecting on the question: Are there any actions you wish to take in the world as you live your fullest expression of potency and strength?
